War Thunder Anti-Cheat Explained
Gaijin has explained how its anti-cheat works. Here is a plain summary of those points and what they mean if you are weighing the risk.
If you are thinking about using cheats in War Thunder, it helps to know what you are up against. Gaijin has published a developer blog that explains its approach, and the main points are worth going through.
It starts with the server
War Thunder uses a server-authoritative model, which means the server decides what is true instead of trusting your client. Combined with the game’s fog of war mechanics, this limits how much a cheating client can learn or do. Gaijin describes these as the first line of defense, reducing how much the game depends on anti-cheat software alone.
Easy Anti-Cheat on the client
Easy Anti-Cheat was introduced in War Thunder in 2019 to deal with external cheats. According to the developers, it can scan memory, running processes and overlays for patterns linked to known cheats or automation software. That information is also used to build new ways of spotting cheats that have not been seen before.
Three kinds of cheats
Gaijin groups cheats into internal, external and DMA based. The team uses these categories to explain why different approaches need different detection, and it is a useful way to understand why the contest between cheat developers and anti-cheat teams never really ends.
Player reports and ban lists
Players can report others through the replay service on the War Thunder website, and the team reviews those reports. Gaijin also publishes fair play updates with the number of accounts it has blocked. A March 2024 update reported 6,669 blocked accounts, and an earlier one reported 8,551. Those figures show that enforcement is active and recurring, not a one off event.
What this means if you are considering cheats
Be realistic. Detection changes over time, which is the reason serious sellers publish a status and do not promise permanence. Levo says on its own pages that status is current only and should be checked after patches. That is the right attitude, and it is why we recommend two habits:
- Check the status page before every session, and especially after a patch.
- Choose a seller who includes updates in the price, so you are not paying again when something changes.

The honest summary
War Thunder has several layers of protection, and they are actively maintained. Using cheats means accepting a real chance of a ban. If you decide to go ahead, look for a seller that is upfront about status, updates and support. Our buyer’s guide covers what to look for.
